Week 4

God is moving here in KY!! I am so sorry I have not written a blog post in so long. Sometimes experiences are hard to put into words.

This past week was awesome!
Our group was from Washington DC. It was a high school group and they were very mature. We had a blast.

The Work Project
We have sided the house up to the soffit level so this week the task was soffiting the garage. It took a lot of energy and brain power, but these hardworking students definitely figured it out! I was so proud of the way they communicated with the teams on other sides of the garage, and solved problems. One day I was with a team that decided to walk across the street and look at the corner of the neighbors soffit to get an idea of how to build a corner. It was a great idea and it worked really well!

VBS
The vacation bible school experience this week was quite different from past weeks. The kids we have been working with come out of one holler called Granny’s Branch, but this week they were all working with another organization called Backyard Bible Club. This meant that we had zero kids for VBS. On Monday the team decided to spend the afternoon going to a couple different apartment complexes and advertise for their VBS. We had a lot of fun walking around to different apartments and meeting some nice people, and some not very nice people. We offered to pick kids up so Tuesday the vans drove out expectantly, and came back with one kid. Her name was Macy and she had an awesome personality!! The leaders were a little worried about how it would go with just one kid, but Macy walked into the gym, looked around, and said “Looks like I’m the only one... Well let’s go!” She was a God-send. The students poured into her so well that day. They went through each of the planned activities, made Macy feel loved, and acted like kids themselves so she wouldn’t feel alone. It was a huge success. On Wednesday there were four girls, and again the students flourished. Thursday, the last day, there were five girls. All in all VBS was a huge success for the students. At the end of the last day there were tears.

Prayer Requests:
Energy. Enough said.
Please continue to pray for each group as they leave that God will continue to work in their lives, and build on what they learned while here in KY.

I know this was a really short post, but unfortunately it’s all I have time for. Thank you SO VERY MUCH to the people who are sending me mail. That brightens my week like you wouldn’t believe. I am reaching the point of exhaustion and your encouragement and prayers are much needed and appreciated.
